Last May, Chris Wondolowski completed his rise from unknown Chico State striker to the top of the American soccer world, earning a spot on the US national team for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
It was a dream come true for the Kiowa Nation tribesman, who became the first registered member of a Native American tribe to make it to a World Cup.
Unfortunately, the dream turned dark for Wondo, who infamously missed a golden opportunity to put the US ahead in the 90th minute of their Round of 16 match against Belgium, a game the US would go on to lose 2-1 after extra time.
Part II of “Bau Daigh Warrior” – MLSsoccer.com and Juice Groove Films’ mini-series chronicling the rise and roots of Wondolowski, whose tribal name is “Bau Daigh” – looks at Wondo’s US national team journey, starting with his first cap in 2010 and going all the way through to that chance in Brazil.
