Chris Wondolowski is approaching rarified air as far as MLS regular-season scoring goes, taking aim at his 100th goal on Sunday against Orlando City (7 pm ET, FOX Sports 1, FOX Deportes, FOX Sports GO).
But Wondo has already scored 100 goals in overall MLS play if you include his playoff tally from Nov. 4, 2010 – and the top 11 goalscorers in MLS history pop up in a slightly different order when postseason play is included.
Factoring in regular and postseason totals, Landon Donovan's all-time goalscoring record looks even farther out of reach at a total of 169 goals, while playoff heroes like Jaime Moreno, Ante Razov and Taylor Twellman (some of whom, it must be said, benefitted from the old best-of-three postseason series format) all move up the list.
Who else has a chance to join this club?
It's a long road for anybody. Only six active players have at least 60 total goals between regular season and postseason play: the Montreal Impact's Kenny Cooper (75), the Chicago Fire's Mike Magee (72), the Philadelphia Union's Conor Casey (70), Real Salt Lake's Álvaro Saborío (66), the LA Galaxy's Robbie Keane (64), D.C. United's Chris Rolfe (61) and Columbus Crew SC's Kei Kamara (60).
The active leading scorers under the age of 30 are the Montreal Impact's Dominic Oduro (49), the Houston Dynamo's Will Bruin (45), Toronto FC's Robbie Findley (45), San Jose's Steven Lenhart (34), Montreal's Jack McInerney (33), the Seattle Sounders' Marco Pappa (32), Sporting Kansas City's Dom Dwyer (30) and the New England Revolution's Lee Nguyen (30).
