The grandmother of D.C. United midfielder Edison Flores has died from COVID-19, and his father also has the disease, according to a report out of Peru.

Teledeportes interviewed Flores’ uncle and grandfather and spoke with his father via phone. D.C. United confirmed to MLSsoccer.com the death of Flores' grandmother, but didn't have confirmation about his father and "we are going to respect his privacy right now."

The 26-year-old Designated Player has been sidelined with a hamstring injury, but is expected to return to training this week, coach Ben Olsen told Steve Goff of the Washington Post.

Flores signed with D.C. United in January in a transfer from Morelia in Liga MX.
