- David Villa scored a goal for a second consecutive game – now with 17 goals in his first MLS season – while Frank Lampard scored his second goal in the last three matches in the NYCFC win in Vancouver.
- The teams are meeting for the second time ever, the first at RFK Stadium. David Villa, Thomas McNamara and Kwadwo Poku each scored one goal and assisted on another as NYCFC rolled to a 3-1 win Aug. 13 at Yankee Stadium.
