How MLS players fared on Matchday 3 of UEFA Nations League

Jukka Raitala - Finnish national team

It was a busy day in UEFA Nations League, with 20 contests played across the continent in Matchday 3 of the competition.

Here’s a look at how Major League Soccer players fared for their national teams on Sunday.

Armenia 2, Georgia 2

San Jose Earthquakes midfielder Vako earned the start and played 90 minutes for Georgia in a 2-2 draw with Armenia Sunday in a League C, Group 2 match played at Tychy City Stadium in Poland.

Vako started on the left wing of a 4-2-3-1 formation and drew a foul in stoppage time, but Georgia couldn’t capitalize on Nika Kvekveskiri’s free kick.

After Nika Kacharava leveled for Georgia, Tornike Okriashvili scored the go-ahead goal in front in the 74th minute, but a Henrikh Mkhitaryan penalty kick one minute from time ensured a share of the points.

Club teammate Guram Kashia was not part of the matchday roster.

Georgia are level on points with group-leading North Macedonia ahead of their clash Wednesday in Skopje.

Finland 2, Bulgaria 0

Jukka Raitala of the Montreal Impact started at right back and played the full 90 minutes in a 2-0 win over Bulgaria in a League B, Group 4 encounter in Helsinki Sunday. Robert Taylor and Fredrik Jensen scored second half goals for Finland, which are second in the group, one point behind leaders Wales.

In the 17th minute, Raitala drove up the right side of the field and played a low ball to Teemu Pukki, who put a deflected shot on goal that was saved by Martin Lukov.

Finland remain home to meet the Republic of Ireland Wednesday at Helsinki Olympic Stadium.

Scotland 1, Slovakia 0

Minnesota United midfielder Jan Gregus earned the start and and Albert Rusnak of Real Salt Lake came off the bench for Slovakia in a League B, Group 2 match against Scotland in Hampden Park. Gregus had a penalty shout in first-half stoppage time when he went down in the box in an attempt to latch on to a free kick. He put a shot on frame on the hour mark that Scotland goalkeeper David Marshall dived to his right to save.

In the search for an equalizer, Rusnak came on for Lukas Haraslin in the 76th minute for Slovakia, which host Israel in Trnava in their next group match Wednesday.

Croatia 2, Sweden 1

Andrej Kramaric scored the decisive goal six minutes from time to lift Croatia to a 2-1 win over Sweden in League A, Group 3 Sunday in Zagreb.

Seattle Sounders midfielder Gustav Svensson, who earned his 29th cap for Sweden in a 2-1 win over Russia in an international friendly Oct. 8, served a one-game suspension Sunday after he was sent off for a second yellow card against Portugal last month.

Sweden meet Portugal in Lisbon Wednesday in their next group stage match.
