The San Jose Earthquakes will have permanent roots in the city with this year's opening of Avaya Stadium, the newest soccer-specific stadium in MLS.
But the Quakes have been around for a while and that history is reflected in their new white secondary jersey with pops of reds which harkens back to the club's old days in the North American Soccer League from 1974-1984. The kit was unveiled on Friday, the final reveal of MLS Jersey Week 2015.
Another reminder of just how far back the club was born shows up in the jock tag featuring an "SJ74" on the lower left corner of the shirt (right) and the words "San Jose 1974" on the neck tape (above right).
On the back of the jersey the word "Quakes" is embossed on the lower half under the name and number.

And as in the case of the other nine charter clubs in MLS who have been around since the very first year in 1996, the Quakes will also be carrying a "Founding Team" patch on the inside of the jersey underneath the club badge.
The Quakes open the 2015 season in Dallas on Saturday, March 7 (8:30 pm ET, MLS LIVE).
