A pair of MLS stars will take part in Univision’s TeletónUSA this weekend, with LA Galaxy and Mexican national team attacker Giovani dos Santos and New York City FC forward David Villa both scheduled to appear on Saturday as part of the annual fundraiser benefitting sick, disabled and mentally-challenged children in the US’ Hispanic communities.
Villa will appear on the telethon first, with the NYCFC and former Spanish national team striker scheduled on-air at 8 pm ET. Dos Santos will appear from Los Angeles from 9-11:30 ET, with the El Tri forward set to go live on-air at 9:45 pm ET.
Modeled after Teletón, a Mexican TV and radio broadcast dedicated to improving the quality of life for sick children, TeletónUSA was founded in 2012. The fourth-annual marathon fundraiser will be broadcast live on Univision non-stop for 30 hours, running from 9 pm ET on Friday to 3 am ET on Sunday.
The annual marathon broadcast features performances from major Latin stars, with artists including Becky G, J Balvin, Wisin, Luis Coronel and Leslie Grace set to perform this year. The fundraiser will be hosted by beloved TV personality and Teletón founder Don Francisco, who will be making his return to the airwaves since his legendary variety show, “Sábado Gigante,” ended in September.
One-hundred percent of all proceeds from TeletónUSA will be given to help Hispanic families in the US. More information on TeletónUSA can be found at TeletonUSA.org or by following #MomentToAct.
