The MLS Disciplinary Committee announced on Thursday it has suspended New York Red Bulls defender Damien Perrinelle for two games and issued an undisclosed fine for his violent conduct that endangered the safety of an opponent in the 64th minute of the Red Bulls game against New York City FC on Aug. 9 (video above).
Perrinelle will serve his two-game suspension during the Red Bulls' next two matches: Aug. 15 against Toronto FC and Aug. 26 against the Chicago Fire.
In addition, on Aug. 8, San Jose Earthquakes midfielder Fatai Alashe received a yellow card for unsporting behavior in the 43rd minute of the Earthquakes match against the Houston Dynamo (VIDEO). Upon review, the MLS Disciplinary Committee has determined that the offense was a serious foul play that endangered the safety of his opponent. While Alashe received a second yellow card in the 60th minute of play, and was therefore issued a red card, the Disciplinary Committee has determined that Alashe should serve a one-game suspension, total, and pay an additional undisclosed fine for the serious nature of the 43rd-minute foul.
Alashe will serve his one-game suspension during San Jose's next match, Aug. 14 against the Colorado Rapids.
