New York City FC
have signed 18-year-old forward Andres Jasson to a Homegrown contract,
the club announced Thursday

Jasson is a decorated member of the club's academy, winning three trophies on the youth circuit, including the 2017 Generation Adidas Cup and back-to-back US Soccer Development Academy U-19 national championships. He becomes the fifth Homegrown signing in NYCFC history.
"We’re delighted that Andres has signed and becomes the 5th player to join our first team from our academy," NYCFC sporting director David Lee said in Thursday's release. "He was an influential part of our academy’s success the past few seasons and impressed as he has trained with the first team regularly over the past 18 months and now, we’re looking forward to the next stage of his development as a professional."

Jasson was also one of four former NYCFC academy players to represent the United States during the 2019 U-17 World Cup along with Joe Scally, Tayvon Gray and Gio Reyna.

He originally committed to play soccer at Yale, but never took the field as the season was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Lee said Jasson will continue to take classes as he pursues his education, with the support of the club.

Jasson played with the first team during preseason and had a strong showing, most notably with a brace against USL Championship outfit Orange County SC on Feb. 4.
