San Jose Earthquakes defender Jacob Akanyirige added his voice to the growing number of MLS players speaking out against racial inequality.
The 18-year-old said he doesn’t understand why judgements are still being made based on the color of someone’s skin.
“This is a dangerous cycle that’s been going on for hundreds of years in America and all over the world,” Akanyirige said. “We all need, and deserve change in this world and we are the only ones that can make that happen.”
