Northern California’s two professional clubs will face off in the Open Cup for the second straight year on Tuesday, when the San Jose Earthquakes will host defending USL champions Sacramento Republic FC at Avaya Stadium (10:30 pm ET, YouTube).
The Quakes bounced Sacramento from the competition last year, getting goals from Khari Stephenson and Cordell Cato to top their USL affiliate 2-1 in the fourth-round. They’ll look to do the same this year under new head coach Dominic Kinnear, who’s aiming to guide San Jose to their first-ever Open Cup championship.
