Sporting Kansas City and the Colorado Rapids meet for the first time this season as the Western Conference clubs face off at Sporting Park on Saturday evening. Sporting return home after extending their current undefeated run to three games, following a 1-1 draw at D.C. United last weekend. The Rapids hit the road after seeing their home winless streak extended to record proportions, reaching a fourth consecutive 1-1 draw in their match with the San Jose Earthquakes at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park.

  • Sporting extended their modest undefeated run to three games, reaching a 1-1 draw with D.C. United on Saturday evening at RFK Stadium.
  • The Rapids played to their fourth consecutive draw, as James Riley scored a dramatic late winner to give them the share of a 1-1 decision with the San Jose Earthquakes on Saturday evening at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park. The MLS record is six consecutive draws set three times – including by the Rapids in 2011.
  • The Rapids have not defeated Sporting since the 2009 season, when they won 2-1 on March 28 at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park. Sporting have won three of the eight meetings since, with five draws, including victories in the lone meeting each of the last two seasons.
  • The Rapids haven’t won in Kansas City since 2002, a 2-1 win at Arrowhead Stadium. Since, Kansas City is 8-0-4 at home vs. Colorado, including a 2-1 win at Sporting Park in the last meeting there in 2013.
