A crucial clash in the Western Conference is ahead when Seattle Sounders FC play host to Sporting Kansas City at Sporting Park on Saturday evening. The teams are separated by just five points in the West table, with Sounders FC leading the division. Sporting come into the game riding a six-game undefeated run, coming off a 4-0 win against FC Dallas last weekend. Sounders FC have gone four games undefeated, after back-to-back wins at home, last a 2-1 triumph against the New York Red Bulls.

  • Sporting extended their undefeated run to six games with their third four-goal outing over that span, a 4-0 whitewash of FC Dallas on Friday evening at Sporting Park. Sporting lead MLS with 21 goals through 13 games, a league-best average of 1.62 goals per game.
  • Krisztian Nemeth scored a goal and added an assist for SKC in the win vs. FC Dallas; he has five goals and two assists over the last seven games, when Sporting have scored 15 goals.
  • Marco Pappa scored for a second consecutive game as Sounders FC won for a third time in their current four-game undefeated run, Chad Barrett getting the final touch on a late, late winner for a 2-1 win against the New York Red Bulls on Sunday afternoon at CenturyLink Field.
  • The teams are meeting for the second time this season. They played to a scoreless draw May 23 at CenturyLink Field.
  • Sounders FC have a nine-game league unbeaten streak alive against Sporting. Since a 1-0 KC win in 2009 in the first meeting ever between the clubs, Seattle has won seven matches (with two draws).
