Week 7 of the Major League Soccer season saw spectacular goals aplenty. But it also had a great set of saves to choose from for the MLS Save of the Week title, including full-stretch dives, close-range reactions and game-saving plays at key moments.
Two goalkeepers nominated this week had to deal with tricky deflections, but the Colorado Rapids' Clint Irwin adjusted to his left to stop a Marco Pappa shot, while New York City FC's Josh Saunders saw Zach Pfeffer's shot through severe penalty-area traffic and got his left hand up to palm it away.
Three days later, in the same stadium, the Portland Timbers' Adam Kwarasey charged down NYC FC forward Khiry Shelton and made a crucial save that helped Portland earn their 1-0 away win.
Staying on the East Coast, the San Jose Earthquakes' David Bingham did well to tip a Dax McCarty header over the crossbar at Red Bull Arena, while the Houston Dynamo's Tyler Deric had to use every inch of his reach to deny D.C. United's Michael Farfan from outside the penalty area en route to a 1-1 road tie.
